We have introduced the FlowSense FCX 8M-UV, a compact UV sensitive camera, optimized for 200 to 400 nm wavelength, making it ideal for imaging of OH* and CH, e.g. flame chemiluminescence applications, in the UV and visible wavelengths range.
You can thus start doing basic combustion diagnostics studies without having to invest in an expensive image intensifier and a dye laser. Since no laser is involved, it is ideal for eye safe lab exercises introducing students to combustion diagnostics and the understanding of turbulent flame dynamics.
The video shows CH chemiluminescence from a gas blow torch burner, recorded at 157 frames per second (fps). The video playback is slowed down to 30 fps.
