Dust Transport on Mars

The Mars simulation facility at the Dept. Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, including the experimental setup involving the Dantec 2D LDV.

At the Planetary Environment Facility the low pressure, low temperature environment of Mars is simulated in a large specially constructed chamber. The simulation includes recreating the wind driven transport of dust and sand.

Specifically a Dantec 2D LDV will be used to simultaneously measure the vertical and horizontal velocity components of individual suspended (aerosolized) Mars analogue dust grains while under Martian conditions.
