Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics

Understanding the motion of air flow around an object enables the calculation of forces and moments acting on it.  Understanding aerodynamics is important when designing and constructing buildings, bridges, and wind turbines to ensure strength and resistance to wind forces.  For vehicles and aircraft, aerodynamics is critical in minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.

Aerodynamics provides vital information when understanding atmospheric and weather phenomena. Further consideration must be given to the importance of internal aerodynamics in flows through ducts, pipes, engine cylinders, and much more.

Aeroacoustics is the study of noise generated either by turbulent fluid motion or aerodynamic forces interacting with surfaces and is essential to minimize vibrations and noise.
