In this application video, a 3-cam 5 Mpx FlexDIC system is used to measurethe dive motion of an RC submarine in
a filled water tank using Istra4D V4.12.In the projection calibration mode, the new Refractive Index Volumetric (Calibration) Method (RIVM) is presented,
which accounts for the different refractive indexes of the various mediums used in DIC setup (i.e. air < glass < water).
V4.12 optimizes the input parameters of the refractive indexes during the live, projection calibration. The volumetric
parameters are independently determined from the standard intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. QR-code recognition
of the presented calibration target can also be performed underwater.Using the ringbuffer recording procedure, 1000 frames are saved to the buffer whereby 798 frames are saved (pre)-trigger
and 202 frames are saved (post)-trigger. As such, the majority of the acquired frames are saved after the event has occurred
(before the trigger is executed).In the Point Tracking, the coded markers are detected automatically by Istra4D. The names and ID of the coded markers can
be seen and the trajectory plots of the markers is displayed in the 2D-overlay visualization.A temporal plot of the total displacement, velocity, and acceleration is shown. The peak deceleration was -2000 mm/s2 at the
lowest point of the dive. From the 3D-plot of the X,Y,Z-displacements (mm) it is clear that the RC submarine moved ca. 5 cm
towards (Z-displacement) the glass window during the dive.
