In this application video, a 2-cam (5 Mpx) MSpeedDIC system operating at 30 Hz was used to measure the motion of a robotic arm that was programmed to perform a welding process. The objective of the measurement was to assess the scale of the velocity & acceleration peaks during the programmed movement to determine if the robot (when loaded with/without a counterweight) would react the same.
Coded target markers were attached to hinges of the robotic arm, for which were detected automatically in Istra4D. A special algorithm is used known as “shape matching” whereby Istra4D is trained to look for the cross marker in the target centre and the ring around the marker perimeter. This means that users do not need to manually select the target required for tracking, everything is automatic.
Istra4D V4.11 can also show the 2D-visualization of a points (path) trajectory, and plot the displacement, velocity, acceleration, and relative angle between selected points.
