Fatigue (elastic cycle) test of a aluminium coupon using a ThermoESA system

In this application video, a ThermoESA system is used for stress visualization (TSA) of an aluminum coupon
with cut-outs. The live image of the ThermoESA sensor, together with the analogue input feed from the
fatigue testing machine, is streamed to the MiTE software. A pre-system check of IR camera connection
and signal stability is performed before the TSA analysis. The thermoelastic response (stress visualization)
is presented and updates in-situ (real-time). With the 2nd inbuilt VGA camera, a live overlay of the image
can be seen. The thermoelastic response can be converted to units of stress through a scaling the response
to a known stress value & location. A line gauge can be placed along the coupon, showing the stress on the
surface (max. 30 Mpa). The stress concentrations (hot-spots) can be seen along the wing tips (indicated as
+ve stress/tension, shown as pink/blue). Similarly, areas of compression can be seen at the tail (indicated
as -ve stress/compression, shown as yellow). Users can also see that the test frame is also in compression.
