Shearography - Non Destructive Testing (NDT)
Shearography is an optical Non Destructive Testing (NDT) method that provides information on under the surface of materials. The Technique is non-contact and full-field with the main applications related to Quality Inspection of composites and other materials. Shearography is being extensively used in production and development within the aerospace, automotive, wind energy, and marine industries as well as for material research. Unique advantages are that Shearography is non-contact and has a high rate of coverage (~1 m2/ minute).
Typical flaws detectable in Composite Materials with Shearography are:
- Foreign objects
- Impact damage
Shearography is incorporated infollowing NDT standards and codes:
- NAS 410, 2008 Rev 3
- ASNT SNT-TC-1A, 2006 edition
- ASNT CP-105, 2006 edition
